Origin
The coffee comes from the Kiangoi Factory, which is managed by the Rung’eto Farmers Cooperative Society. This factory is located in a fertile area in Kenya and receives coffee cherries from more than 1,160 smallholder farmers in the surrounding villages. The cooperative not only focuses on coffee farming, but also operates a dairy cold storage facility that supplies dairy products to one of Kenya’s largest dairy companies. This diversified income model helps farmers reduce their dependence on a single agricultural product, which increases the stability of their income.
Rung’eto Kiangoi coffee is processed using the traditional washed process. The coffee cherries are hand-picked, sorted and then washed with clean water to remove impurities and inferior fruits. They are then dried on raised beds where regular rotation ensures even drying. This thorough and careful process ensures that the coffee reaches its maximum flavour potential, which is reflected in its distinctive fruity and sweet taste.
